Clinical interest in tesamorelin arose from the need to address visceral adiposity in people living with HIV. Antiretroviral therapy improved survival but was associated in some patients with central fat accumulation, altered lipid profiles, and metabolic complications. This condition, often called HIV-associated lipodystrophy, involves excess visceral adipose tissue that is difficult to manage through diet and exercise alone. Investigators evaluated tesamorelin because GHRH analogs can stimulate growth hormone secretion and influence fat distribution without direct liposuction or invasive procedures.
A Phase 3 program led to regulatory approval in the United States in 2010 for reduction of excess visceral abdominal fat in adults with HIV and lipodystrophy. Subsequent studies examined effects on liver fat, muscle area, and metabolic markers, with mixed findings for some endpoints. Long-term cardiovascular outcomes and effects on mortality remain uncertain because most trials were relatively short and focused on imaging-based fat measurements. Use in populations without HIV has been studied experimentally but is not part of the approved indication.
Tesamorelin binds to growth hormone-releasing hormone receptors on somatotroph cells in the anterior pituitary. Receptor activation increases intracellular cyclic AMP and promotes synthesis and secretion of growth hormone. Because the peptide mimics endogenous GHRH, it amplifies the normal pulsatile release of growth hormone rather than providing exogenous growth hormone directly. This upstream action distinguishes tesamorelin from recombinant growth hormone preparations and from growth hormone secretagogues that act at different receptors.
Stimulated growth hormone release leads to hepatic production of insulin-like growth factor 1, a key mediator of many growth hormone effects. In clinical studies, tesamorelin increased IGF-1 levels in a dose-dependent manner, although the response varies among individuals. The drug's effect on visceral fat is thought to involve growth hormone-mediated lipolysis and altered adipocyte metabolism. Muscle mass and lean body mass have also been assessed as secondary outcomes, but changes are generally smaller and less consistent than fat reductions.
Pharmacodynamic studies show that tesamorelin reduces visceral adipose tissue more than subcutaneous adipose tissue in the studied population. This selectivity may relate to differences in blood flow and hormone sensitivity between fat depots. Effects on glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity have been investigated, with some trials reporting modest changes and others showing stability. The precise relationship between growth hormone exposure, IGF-1 levels, and visceral fat loss remains an active area of analysis.

==== Impeachment attempt ==== On 20 November 2021, Popular Force, Go on Country, and Popular Renewal backed a motion by Patricia Chirinos to impeach President Castillo for "moral incapacity." With the three parties only having 43 votes out of the 87 needed for impeachment, Popular Renewal parliamentarian José Cueto said that he was aware that the motion would fail, but hoped that the motion would get 52 signatures to allow for Congress to summon President Castillo for questioning before Congress. Free Peru's members initially presented contradictory statements on the impeachment. Meanwhile, Together for Peru denounced the impeachment attempt as a "coup maneuver." On 28 November 2021, Cuarto Poder teased footage of various people entering Castillo's campaign house in Breña. Among these people were Castillo, who entered without his characteristic Chotano hat. As the meetings were unregistered (against Peruvian regulations), many hyped up the Cuarto Poder reports as a prelude to a major corruption expose against Castillo's administration. On 6 December 2021, Free Peru concluded an extraordinary national assembly by announcing that it would vote unanimously against an impeachment. On 1 December 2021, Prime Minister Mirtha Vásquez assured that the Breña house and other places outside the Government Palace will no longer be used for meetings and assured that measures would be taken in order to improve transparency. Vásquez also said Castillo would be willing to be transparent regarding the people he met at the Breña house.
Palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 (Pal-GQPR) is a tetrapeptide that is derived from an amino acid sequence Gly-Gln-Pro-Arg found in the immune system modulator immunoglobulin G, conjugated with a lipophilic palmitoyl chain to enhance skin absorption. Even though it is not derived from connective tissue proteins, it is commonly grouped with the matrikine peptides as it has similar effects in the body in promoting synthesis of collagen, and is claimed to produce anti-aging and anti-wrinkle effects. It also has an additional antiinflammatory action due to inhibition of interleukin 6 production and is used in skin creams.
=== Sizing === When used in painting as a sizing, rabbit-skin glue is spread evenly over a canvas that has been placed on a stretcher. When the glue dries, the canvas tightens. The canvas should be left to dry in normal room temperature for at least 12 hours. Under no circumstances should the drying canvas be placed under harsh sunlight or other heat, because the glue will start to crack. Air humidity also affects how tight the canvas will dry. Once the canvas is dry, a second layer of glue should be spread on the canvas and left to dry again. After this, if needed, the canvas can be lightly sanded flat. Then an oil-based primer is applied. A canvas sized with rabbit-skin glue can be made tighter than with other alternatives—such as an acrylic-based gesso—because of the shrinkage. This type of canvas is also valuable because it can be sanded to a flatter texture, which allows the painter to achieve a finer level of detail than can be achieved with a typical acrylic gesso ground. A rabbit-skin glue ground is only appropriate for use under oil paint. Acrylic-based media will flake off a canvas prepared with rabbit-skin glue and are therefore not appropriate. Rabbit-skin glue is considered to be a major cause of cracking in oil paintings by most modern conservators. Because the glue is hygroscopic, it continually absorbs moisture from the atmosphere, causing the glue to swell and shrink as ambient humidity levels change. Over many humidity cycles, this repeated flexing causes the brittle oil paint to crack.

Autoimmune diseases predominantly begin in adulthood, although they can start at any age. The initial recognition of autoimmune diseases dates back to the early 1900s, and since then, advances in understanding and management of these conditions have been substantial, though much more is needed to fully unravel their complex etiology and pathophysiology.
124Xe (n,γ) → 125mXe (57 s) → 125I 124Xe (n,γ) → 125gXe (16.9 h) → 125I The irradiation target is the primordial nuclide 124Xe, which is the target isotope for making 125I by neutron capture. It is loaded into irradiation capsules of the zirconium alloy zircaloy-2 (a corrosion resisting alloy transparent to neutrons) to a pressure of about 100 bar (~ 100 atm). Upon irradiation with slow neutrons in a nuclear reactor, several radioisotopes of xenon are produced. However, only the decay of 125Xe leads to a radioiodine: 125I. The other xenon radioisotopes decay either to stable xenon, or to various caesium isotopes, some of them radioactive (i.e., caesium-135 and caesium-137). Long irradiation times are disadvantageous. Iodine-125 itself has a neutron capture cross section of 900 barns, and consequently during a long irradiation, part of the 125I formed will be converted to 126I, a beta-emitter and positron-emitter with a half-life of 12.93 days, which is not medically useful. In practice, the most useful irradiation time in the reactor amounts to a few days. Thereafter, the irradiated gas is allowed to decay for three or four days to eliminate short-lived unwanted radioisotopes, and to allow the newly produced xenon-125 to decay to iodine-125. To isolate the radioiodine, the irradiated capsule is first cooled at low temperature (to condense the free iodine gas onto the capsule inner wall) and the remaining Xe gas is vented in a controlled way and recovered for further use.
In October, a two-day demonstration in Reggio by some 40,000 northern CGIL metalworkers, supported the revolt. The Reggio revolt was one of the most controversial periods in the history of Calabria, partly because of the absence of related documentation, which was often destroyed or hidden. Historiography generally reflects the perspective of the author. Examples:

It is a synthetic peptide analog of human growth hormone-releasing hormone. It is used clinically to reduce excess visceral abdominal fat in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. It works by stimulating pituitary growth hormone release.
Pivotal trials enrolled adults with HIV and excess visceral abdominal fat, often in the context of antiretroviral therapy. Participants were assessed mainly by computed tomography for visceral adipose tissue. The approved indication remains specific to that population.
Long-term effects on cardiovascular events, mortality, and sustained fat distribution are not well established. Most trials measured changes over months rather than years. Open questions also include whether benefits persist after treatment stops.
It targets the growth hormone-releasing hormone receptor on pituitary somatotroph cells. Binding stimulates cyclic AMP signaling and growth hormone secretion. This is the same receptor used by endogenous GHRH.
